random thought number 1) yay. i managed to sleep till 9am today. :) my body alarm clock is far too early for my liking.
random thought number 2) i went to bukit chandu yesterday, where one of the fiercest battle was fought before the british surrendered during the great war. salute the heroes! so.many.people.died. so many. the stories are gruesome too, and it didn't help that i am reading a fiction book based on world war 2, france. the massacre in oradour was described in great detail. : anyway, i heard this story before, but i have forgotten it till i read it again yesterday at bukit chandu. alexandra hospital, the best equipped british military hospital during the wars. the japanese troops marched in. the lieutenant(how do you spell it.) tied a white bedsheet to the pole and surrendered. surrender accepted. they bayonet-ted him to death. and they dashed into the operating theatre, bayonet-ted the 2 doctors operating on the patient. and the helpless patient was murdered too. : they went on to massacre the whole hospital and less than 5 survivors lived to tell the story.
hoho. alexandra hospital is in my cluster and i am going to work there cause we have to rotate hospital every 1 to 2 years.
o Lord, i pray for peace around the world. wars no more, Father!!
random thought number 3) a safe haven no more.
random thought number 4)
happy birthday, singapore! :)
once a year, singaporeans from all walks of life will don red i-love-singapore shirts and flood the streets. once a year, the air will be teeming with the spirit of patriotism before singaporeans reverting back to their complacent selves. i'm really grateful and thankful to be a singaporean. :) where else can you find a world class education, internal stability and harmony, the multiracial and religious society, a magical government (albeit leaning towards totalitarian. hahaha) and the best makan paradise? i shall proudly wave my little singapore flag when i'm in london. :)
random thought number 5) sigh. no tickets to national day parade this year! :( boo. on this day last year, i was signing the pledge and the song at the parade. :D hoho.
random thought number 6) i was queueing up in the bank that day, a man caught my attention. he was sloppily dressed, slightly unkempt, clutching on to a single wafer-thin ten dollar note. he was fidgety and nervous, as though someone would snatch his precious note away, as though depositing a ten dollar note was a major milestone in his life. see how much a ten dollar note means to him? see how we often indulge in extravagant lifestyles and we have forgotten the poor? what does a 10 dollar note mean to you and what does a 10 dollar note mean to that ah chek? let's all stop to think.
random thought number 7) so glad i went back to dsa yesterday. :) i guess the dsa peepz are the most patriotic lot i have ever known. i really miss them. i didn't realise that till i saw them yesterday.
johnson tottered up to me and said
"hi my loyal best friend~ i like you leh."
guilt-ridden.
"so johnson, how's pastor?"
"very good! i still love him!"
"what about God?"
"oooh very good! what about yours?"
"oh my God very good."
random thought number 8) everyone's going off to school except for me!! there's still about four weeks plus more. hoho. at least the aussie people are even later than me. i can't wait to start school. :)
He's my way
